If you're looking for modern contemporary this is not for you. If you appreciate personal touches, that attention to detail and good service with exceptionally clean facilities in such a perfect location....then you must definitely stay here. Will definitely stay here again.

- Judy Krempin Added June 20, 2022★ ★ ★ ★ ★Such a wonderful place to stay! Private, comfortable and with everything you could possibly want. It's across the road from the river and the cycleway. The main center of town is a short walk away. Secure parking and a lovely garden to relax in.

We decided last minute not to do the drive back to Launceston (as this is where we are staying) and look for somewhere to stay the night in Devonport then head back the next day. We were a little nervous assuming that the only availability would be for places of very little desire. We were quite pleasantly surprised. The Garden Room has a beautiful view of the gardens. Upon walking in we felt the instantaneous warmth and love that has been put into making guests feel at home, away from home and the space was great. A++ for cleanliness, A++ for location and A++ all round. I could not fault Birchwood on the River at all. We will definitely come back to Tasmania and definitely come back to further explore Devonport and surrounds and most definitely stay at Birchwood. Thank you Rex and Julianne.
